However, the materials, build quality, luxury door handles, security and technology justify the price premium. Spitfire S500 and S700 front doors
At the premium end of Spitfire’s range are S500 and S700 front doors. Some of the designs fall into the bling category and are going to fall out of fashion fast, but, made by Inotherm in Europe, they are a very high quality front door that look and feel great.
The hardware, build quality, look and feel of Spitfire Doors is great, but at this price point also worth considering other similarly priced doors that may give you more for your more.
Recommended mid-priced aluminium front doors
Premium or mid-range aluminium front doors sit below the ultra high end and typically range from about £2500 up to £3500 depending on the brand, style and options chosen. These typically use door frame and sash profiles such as Reynaers, Smart Systems, Comar or Schüco, alongside a decorative panel made by Adecco, Indupanel, Hallmark or Smart Systems. these are typically flush outside and stepped inside or flush both side. Or they can feature glass and solid panels. Glasswin, Gerda, Spitfire and other brands are typically made in Eastern or Western Europe, with Spitfire S200 made in Greece and S500 made by Inotherm.
Gerda front doors
Made in Poland and exclusively distributed by Pioneer Trading Company in Essex, Gerda front doors use a combination of steel and aluminium and come in three excellent ranges, Optima, Thermo Premium and Thermo Prime. The benefit of these doors is their ultra-premium appearance at a more realistic price with excellent panel designs, and high quality hardware.
The fit and finish of these doors is first class as is the technical performance and security credentials. The use of steel to the panels gives these doors a seamless look, that’s better than the glaze-in method of other doors. New to the market, and recommended for their looks and quality.
Sitting in the middle of the best aluminium front doors offering are products at a more mid-range price of around £2800-£4000. These doors are either high-end doors using premium aluminium systems to the door frame and sash, with a choice of high quality decorative panels.

Best entry-level front doors
These are the entry-level by no-means low-quality front doors. all use a tried and tested aluminium door frame and sash system and complete the front door look by using a “glaze in” decorative panel. You can expect to pay in the region of £2000-£3000 for these doors, any higher, and you’re better off considering the mid-range doors that promise better styling, look and feel more premium and offer more features. But don’t discount the following outstanding front doors in aluminium and some of these make buying a composite door an unwise decision.
Alitherm 400 front doors with decorative panel.
Alitherm front doors use the Smart Systems 400 series profiles are well-made, look and feel premium and come in some great designs, colour and acessories. This door is a no-brainer compared to a composite door and there is absolutely no reason to choose a Solidor, Endurance or other composite door which is at similar money.
Shown here is the Attlas brand which is an Alitherm 400 door with a designer door panel. This is one of the best aluminium front doors at a fantastic price point and recommended. Compared to a best-known brand like Origin’s front doors, they are visibly better and probably cheaper too.
Spitfire S-200 front doors
