Who Makes the Best Aluminium Windows in 2026?

Who Makes the Best Aluminium Windows in 2026?

When it comes to replacing dated windows or specifying glazing for a new extension, renovation or new build, one of the most common questions we receive is simple. Who makes the best aluminium windows?

The answer depends on what you mean by “best”. Some aluminium windows focus on value for money. Others prioritise slim sightlines, contemporary styling, steel-look aesthetics, commercial performance or specialist opening options. After many years reviewing windows and visiting manufacturers, systems companies, fabricators, showrooms and installations throughout the UK and Europe, we believe there is no single “best” aluminium window for every project.

With so many styling and opening options, such as flush casements, slimline windows, steel look, sliding sash, tilt and turn and even windows to meet specialist applications, certain products stand out in specific categories.

This guide explains which we consider to be the best aluminium windows in 2026 and why.

What About Other Aluminium Window Brands?

There are now dozens of aluminium window brands available in the UK.

Some are designed by major systems companies. Others are exclusive products developed by individual manufacturers. Many are rebadged versions of existing systems sold under different names.

It would be impossible to include every aluminium window in a single guide, particularly when many products share similar aluminium profiles, hardware and engineering principles.

The windows featured in this article are the products we believe stand out in their respective categories. That does not automatically mean a brand not listed here is inferior.

If you have been quoted for a window system not mentioned in this guide, get in touch. We can usually tell you who designed it, whether it is based on another system, how it compares with competing products and whether there are alternatives worth considering.

Our advice is impartial, independent and based on nearly four decades in the door and window industry.

How the Door and Window Experts Website Reviews Aluminium Windows

We have worked in the glazing industry since 1989 and regularly visit manufacturers, systems companies, fabricators and installers throughout the UK and Europe. We review products in showrooms, examine technical documentation and gather feedback from the companies that design, manufacture, install and support aluminium windows.

This gives us a practical understanding of how products differ in the real world, beyond brochure specifications and marketing claims. Where possible we also visit installations to view windows in homes.

Evaluating Quality When Choosing Aluminium Windows

Aluminium windows vary in design, engineering, styling and price.

The good news is there are very few genuinely poor aluminium window systems on the market today. Most are designed to meet demanding security, weather performance and thermal standards and all use high quality aluminium extrusions with proven thermal break technology.

Where products differ is in their design, sightlines, engineering, hardware, size capability and overall aesthetics. Some use premium European hardware. Others use more cost-effective components. Some systems are designed for standard residential projects, whilst others are engineered for large architectural glazing, bigger windows and higher performance.

In our experience, problems with windows are far more likely to be caused by poor manufacturing, poor installation or poor aftersales support than by the aluminium system itself. For this reason, choosing the right supplier is often just as important as choosing the right window.

We would also recommend concentrating the greater proportion of your glazing budget on your doors rather than your windows. Doors have moving panels, locking systems, thresholds, rollers and hardware that are subjected to far greater stresses and daily use than a typical window. A good window and an exceptional door will usually provide a better overall outcome than the other way around.

When comparing the best aluminium windows for you, pay attention to:

  • Sightlines
  • Opening options
  • Security testing
  • Thermal performance
  • Colour choices
  • Hardware quality
  • System or brand reputation
  • Long-term support

Above all, choose your installer as carefully as you choose your windows.

Best Aluminium Windows for Most Homeowners

For most homeowners, the best aluminium window is not necessarily the most expensive. It is the one that balances appearance, performance, availability and value for money. For 2026, our choice is the Cortizo Casement Window.

OUR CHOICE

Cortizo Casement Window

Cortizo has become one of the most widely used aluminium systems in the UK. Its casement window collection has consistently expanded to meet the needs of the UK market, offering both slim and standard frames and contemporary styling.

This brand of windows has also successfully combined modern styling, slim sightlines and competitive pricing with widespread availability through a growing network of manufacturers and installers.

The Cortizo Casement window is very much designed for today’s modern tastes, and works very well in in replacement windows projects, extensions and new builds. Available in standard and flush configurations, with matching doors and sliding systems available, it offers flexibility that many homeowners will appreciate.

Whilst some specialist systems may offer slimmer profiles or more sophisticated engineering, few provide such a strong balance of styling, performance and value. For most homeowners, Cortizo is currently our recommendation.

Smart Systems Alitherm 400

The Smart Systems Alitherm 400 remains one of the most widely used aluminium window systems in the UK. Whilst it may not have the prestige of brands such as Schüco, Reynaers or the popularity of Origin, it has earned its reputation through reliability, wide availability and value for money. Thousands of installers and manufacturers work with Smart products, which means competitive pricing, nationwide availability and the reassurance that replacement parts, servicing and technical support are unlikely to become an issue years after installation.

What we like about Alitherm 400 is that Smarts are bringing it up to date with flush and overlapping sash options, pleasing styling and it’s a reliable product that well made and fitted will be reliable. Sightlines are fine to suit most window projects and the system works very well in replacement window projects, extensions and new build homes. There is a suite of matching doors as well. Smart has also continued to refine the product over the years, improving thermal performance and integrating features such as trickle ventilation more effectively. For homeowners looking for a dependable, well-established aluminium window from the UK’s largest systems company, Alitherm 400 remains one of the safest choices on the market.

AluK Optio 58BW HI

The AluK Optio 58BW HI is one of those aluminium window systems that has been around long enough to prove itself in the real world. Widely used in both residential and commercial projects, it has built a reputation as a dependable and well-designed window that does exactly what most homeowners, developers and installers need it to do. Whilst newer systems have entered the market with slimmer sightlines and more contemporary styling, the Optio 58BW HI remains a reliable, proven, and trusted window for many manufacturers and installers.

What continues to make the system attractive is its balance of good specifications, availability and value. Aluk is one of those few brands that is up front with its thermal figures, security and weather protection and because they are genuine. Aluk Option 58 BW HI windows are well proven and the product is available from a large network of manufacturers and installers throughout the UK. For homeowners looking for a reliable aluminium window from an established systems company of nearly 70 years, the Optio 58BW HI remains a solid and sensible option that is also well priced.

Origin OW-70

Of all the products currently offered by Origin, the OW-70 remains our favourite. In our view, it is the best product in the entire Origin range and one of the company’s most successful designs. The styling is attractive, the sightlines are slim, the external flush appearance looks particularly good and the overall quality of manufacture is excellent. It is also widely available throughout the UK, which helps keep supply options broad and gives homeowners access to one of the largest installer networks in the market.

Whilst Origin’s marketing often dominates discussion around the brand, putting that to one side reveals a genuinely good aluminium window. The OW-70 is reliable, well-engineered and has proven itself over many years in the market. Our only reservation is price. In 2026 there are several competing systems offering similar, and in some cases better, specifications at a lower cost. We would also separate the standard OW-70 from the Soho Collection, which is achieved primarily through the addition of glazing bars and transoms rather than a fundamentally different window system. For us, the strength of the OW-70 remains the core window itself rather than the marketing-led variations built around it.

Best Contemporary Aluminium Window

Contemporary aluminium windows are about more than slim sightlines. The best systems combine attractive styling, intelligent engineering and the flexibility to create everything from simple replacement windows to entire glazed elevations.

They should also give architects and homeowners genuine design freedom. That means a choice of frame styles, sash designs, inward and outward opening options, large fixed glazing and products that work together seamlessly across an entire project. In our view, Reynaers does this better than almost anyone else.

OUR CHOICE

Reynaers Windows

For 2026, whether you choose Reynaers SlimLine 38, SlimLine 68, MasterLine 8 or ConceptSystem 77, you’ll be investing in some of the best-designed aluminium windows on the market. The sightlines are refined, the hardware is excellent, the styling is contemporary without following short-term trends and the engineering quality is exactly what you would expect from one of Europe’s leading systems companies.

What makes Reynaers particularly impressive is the flexibility of the range. Depending on the product and configuration chosen, you can create slim opening windows, large fixed glazed areas, corner glazing and complex architectural arrangements whilst maintaining a consistent appearance throughout the project. It is no surprise that Reynaers remains one of the most frequently specified aluminium window brands amongst architects and design-led homeowners.

Schüco AWS 80 SC

Schüco’s latest generation AWS 80 SC deserves serious consideration for anyone looking at contemporary aluminium windows. The styling is outstanding. The sightlines are not the slimmest but certainly refined and balanced. The overall engineering is exactly what you would expect from Schüco, first class and over-engineered for long service life.

For homeowners looking for one of the best aluminium brands the AWS 80 SC is difficult to overlook. Read our Review.

Cortizo COR Vision Plus Window

Although better known for sliding doors, Cortizo’s contemporary window products are equally impressive. The COR Vision Plus and related variations of it provide extremely slim sightlines, large glass areas and styling that suits modern architecture particularly well. One of Cortizo’s strengths is its ability to offer contemporary aesthetics at a more accessible price point than some of the premium European brands.

For homeowners seeking modern design without moving into the upper end of the market, Cortizo remains one of the strongest options available. Read our Review.

Best value aluminium windows.

One of the biggest misconceptions in the glazing industry is that a more affordable aluminium window must somehow be made from inferior materials. That is simply not true. Whether you buy an Exlabesa window, a Reynaers window, a Schüco window or an Origin window, the aluminium itself is the same architectural-grade material used throughout the industry. Likewise, reputable powder coated finishes are produced to recognised industry standards such as Qualicoat. There is no special or premium grade aluminium reserved for certain brands.

Where window systems differ is in their design, aesthetics, hardware and colour choices, engineering, size capabilities, available configurations and brand perception. Some manufacturers invest heavily in marketing and dealer networks. Others focus on providing a well-designed product at a competitive price. That does not automatically make one better than the other.

For many homeowners, value is not about finding the cheapest window. It is about finding the best balance of styling, performance, reliability and price. The products below demonstrate that you do not need to spend premium-brand money to get an attractive, secure and well-performing aluminium window. In our view, these currently represent some of the best value aluminium windows available in the UK.

Exlabesa KC51

For a brand many homeowners may never have heard of, Exlabesa actually produces some excellent products. The KC51 is a good example of a modern aluminium casement window that does exactly what it is designed to do.

It looks contemporary, comes with slim sightlines, good thermal performance, PAS 24 security testing and all the opening options most homeowners are likely to need. It is also available in a variety of frame styles, allowing it to suit both residential and light commercial projects.

Exlabesa has concentrated on creating a practical, well-engineered and competitively priced window system. The specifications are solid, the styling is attractive and it is capable of creating everything from simple replacement windows to larger glazed elevations. It also benefits from compatibility with other Exlabesa systems, making it easy to create matching glazing packages where required with same brand bifolds and sliding doors available, equally well-priced.

Alunet Aluna+ Windows

Aluna+ is an interesting product because much of the marketing focuses on the manufacturing process rather than the window itself. A significant part of the system’s development has centred around making life easier for fabricators through fewer parts, simplified fabrication, reduced stockholding and faster glazing. These are genuine benefits for manufacturers and may also help keep costs competitive.

For homeowners, however, none of that matters. What they care about is how the window looks, performs and lasts over time and confidence in their installer. Viewed through that lens, Aluna+ is a competent and modern aluminium window system. The slim sightlines are attractive, thermal performance comfortably exceeds current Building Regulations and the availability of casement, flush casement and tilt and turn options provides plenty of flexibility. PAS 24 security and modern weather performance are exactly where they should be.

Where we feel Alunet occasionally overstates its position is with phrases such as “luxury aluminium”. The truth is that all reputable aluminium systems use the same core material and work to recognised standards for powder coating, security and performance. What separates one system from another is the design, engineering, hardware and overall ownership experience.

That said, there is genuine merit in what Alunet has created. The simplified fabrication approach is different from many competing systems and the result is a modern, well-performing window that offers good styling and strong specifications. As with most aluminium windows, the quality of the company manufacturing and installing it will ultimately have a greater impact on long-term satisfaction than the window system itself.

Smart Systems Alitherm 400

Few aluminium window systems have achieved the market penetration of Smart Systems Alitherm 400. It has been around for years, is manufactured by hundreds of fabricators across the UK and has become one of the default choices for homeowners, developers and installers looking for a modern aluminium window at a sensible price. That’s why it appears as one of our best windows for most homeowners.

But because one of its biggest strengths is such wide availability and so many companies manufacture and install Alitherm 400, there is every chance you can obtain competitive quotations whilst still buying a proven and widely respected system. Shop around and you’ll often find Alitherm 400 offers some of the best value in the aluminium window market. Get in touch and we can help.

Senior Architectural Systems

Senior Architectural Systems is one of those brands many homeowners may not recognise, yet its products have been specified on housing developments, apartment schemes, schools and commercial buildings throughout the UK for decades.

The company offers several well-designed window systems, including the PURe® range, which uses an expanded polyurethane thermal barrier rather than the conventional polyamide found in most aluminium windows. The result is some of the best thermal performance available in an aluminium window today, making PURe® particularly attractive for energy-conscious projects.

Alongside this, the Ali VU range provides slimmer sightlines and contemporary styling whilst maintaining strong performance credentials. Both systems offer a genuine alternative to the more familiar names found in many showrooms.

What we like about Senior is that it combines proven engineering, extensive testing and decades of experience with pricing that is often surprisingly competitive. If you’re looking beyond the mainstream aluminium window brands, Senior Architectural Systems also deserves serious consideration.

Best Steel Look Windows

Steel look windows continue to be one of the most popular styles in the UK. Originally associated with industrial buildings, factories and Art Deco architecture, steel inspired glazing is now used on everything from period renovations and barn conversions to contemporary extensions and luxury new builds. The challenge is that few have the resources to design their own system. Apart from Aluco, the UK market has no complete steel-look system, right down to the front door. Anyone who is not selling Aluco is selling a mainstream system. The authenticity of the Aluco Elite is why we consider this the best steel look window on the market by far.

OUR CHOICE

Aluco Elite

In our opinion, and having seen all the competing brands, Aluco currently produces the most convincing steel look aluminium window available in the UK.

Unlike many competing products, the Elite Window has been designed from the outset around the appearance and character of traditional steel windows rather than adapting a standard aluminium system and applying glazing bars afterwards. The stepped profiles are only part of the story. Aluco has worked hard to recreate the proportions, detailing and overall appearance of original steel glazing as accurately as possible.

If genuine steel windows are beyond the budget, we believe there is currently no aluminium window that comes closer to replicating their appearance, detailing and overall character than Aluco Elite. Read the Aluco Elite Review.

Reynaers SlimLine 38

The Reynaers SlimLine 38 is one of the most elegant steel look aluminium window systems currently available and a product that demonstrates just how far aluminium has evolved as a replacement for traditional steel glazing.

What immediately sets the SL 38 apart is its refinement. Whilst many steel look windows focus primarily on glazing bars and heritage styling, Reynaers has created a complete system with exceptionally slim profiles, outstanding proportions and the kind of engineering quality you would expect from one of Europe’s leading aluminium systems companies. The result is a window that looks equally at home in a period renovation, industrial-style extension or contemporary architectural project.

One of the biggest strengths of the SL 38 is the choice of styling options. The Classic, Cubic and Ferro variants each provide a different interpretation of the steel look aesthetic, allowing architects and homeowners to tailor the appearance to the building rather than forcing the building to suit the window. The matching Ultraslim door is equally impressive, creating a consistent appearance across windows and doors with large glazed areas and beautifully slim framing.

As with all Reynaers products, the engineering is first class. The system offers excellent security, weather performance and thermal insulation whilst retaining the slender sightlines that make steel look windows so appealing. It is also available with both double and triple glazing, something that is not always possible with heritage-inspired systems.

In our view, the SlimLine 38 is one of the best-looking aluminium window systems on the market today. It may not replicate traditional steel windows quite as faithfully as specialist products such as Aluco Elite, but for those seeking a premium steel look window from a world-class systems company, few products combine aesthetics, quality and engineering as successfully as the Reynaers SlimLine 38.

The AluK Optio 58BW ST HI

Aluk has finally done the work needed in bringing a steel look system up to date, with the AluK Optio 58BW ST HI. We think of the larger systems it is one of the better steel look aluminium windows currently available and deserves consideration if you like the appearance of traditional metal windows but want the performance expected from a modern aluminium system.

What makes this window stand out is the way AluK has combined several traditional design cues into a contemporary product. The stepped sash, putty-line styling and square-edged profiles all help recreate the appearance of classic steel windows, whilst the hardware has been carefully selected to complement the overall aesthetic. And it looks really neat as well.

Like most modern aluminium windows and the Aluk transparency on it’s performance figures, they’re excellent. Thermal insulation, weather resistance and security all meet the standards expected of a contemporary replacement window, with independent PAS 24 and Secured by Design accreditation providing additional reassurance.

The Optio 58BW ST HI is also highly versatile, available as side hung, top hung, bottom hung, fixed light and multi-light configurations. This flexibility makes it suitable for everything from period property renovations and heritage-inspired extensions through to contemporary homes looking for a more industrial style. It’s great to see Aluk bringing their ST line up to date.

Cortizo Alu-Steel

Cortizo has taken a slightly different approach to the steel look market. Rather than attempting to replicate traditional period steel windows exactly, Alu-Steel is designed around the warehouse, industrial and loft-style aesthetic that has become increasingly popular in contemporary architecture.

In many ways it occupies a similar position to Reynaers SlimLine 38. The styling is inspired by steel, but interpreted through a modern aluminium system that prioritises performance, larger glass sizes and contemporary design. The result is a window that looks equally at home in a converted warehouse apartment, contemporary extension or architect-designed new build.

What immediately stands out is the slim 72.5mm sightline, elegant frame detailing and impressive overall proportions. The system is available in both modern and classic versions, giving designers greater flexibility depending on whether the project calls for a cleaner contemporary appearance or a more traditional steel-inspired look. Large opening sizes, excellent acoustic performance and impressive thermal values complete a package that is every bit as capable technically as it is visually.

As a relatively new addition to the market, Alu-Steel demonstrates just how far steel look aluminium windows have evolved. It combines the styling homeowners and architects increasingly want with the performance expected of a modern aluminium system. Whilst Aluco remains our choice for the most authentic steel replacement window, Cortizo Alu-Steel is one of the most impressive contemporary steel-inspired systems currently available.

Best UK Known Brand

Over the past decade, Origin has invested heavily in manufacturing, product development, marketing and dealer support. The result is one of the most recognisable names in the aluminium window sector and one of the largest dealer networks in the UK.

OUR CHOICE

Origin OW-70

For homeowners, that means products are easy to find, easy to compare and available through hundreds of suppliers nationwide. Origin also offers an extensive colour range, multiple hardware options and some of the shortest lead times in the market.

The products themselves are well made. The OW70 remains, in our view, the strongest window in the Origin range and one of the better aluminium windows available today. The newer OW80 offers improved thermal performance and larger sizes, although it is noticeably bulkier than many competing systems.

What separates one system from another is the design, engineering, hardware, support and overall ownership experience. For homeowners who value brand recognition, nationwide availability and a substantial, reputable manufacturer behind the product, Origin remains the UK’s best-known aluminium window brand.

Best Aluminium Sliding Sash Window

This is one category where we need to be honest.

If your primary objective is creating the most authentic sliding sash window possible, you will often be better served by a high quality PVCu sash window from brands such as Roseview, Masterframe, Spectus or Rehau. In 2026 PVCu currently replicates traditional timber sliding sash windows more convincingly than aluminium, for manufacturing and technical reasons, uPVC just does it better.

That is not to say aluminium sliding sash windows are poor products. They offer excellent durability, slim sightlines and low maintenance. However, the market remains relatively small and there are currently very few dedicated aluminium sash window systems available.

In fact, most aluminium sliding sash windows available in the UK are based on the same core platform, with manufacturers differentiating themselves through styling, hardware, customisation options and overall presentation rather than fundamentally different engineering.

For homeowners committed to aluminium, there are currently two products we believe stand out above the rest. For 2026, our choice is the Duration VS Plus.

OUR CHOICE

Duration VS Plus

The Duration VS Plus is currently our preferred aluminium sliding sash window.

What Duration has done particularly well is tailor the product specifically for the residential market. The proportions are attractive, the styling is convincing and the range of hardware, sash horn and detailing options helps create a more authentic appearance than many aluminium sash windows.

We still do not believe aluminium has yet overtaken the best PVCu sash windows for authenticity, but if you are committed to aluminium, the VS Plus is currently the most complete package available. The Duration Royale is currently our preferred aluminium sliding sash window, but as Duration supply only and do not install, contact us for details of installers.

Smart Systems VS 600

The Smart Systems VS 600 is what the VS Plus is based on, but also is used commercially. The system is also widely available through Smart Systems’ extensive network of manufacturers and installers. Whilst it may not replicate traditional timber sash windows quite as convincingly as timber or the better uPVC brands, it remains one of the strongest aluminium sash products currently available.

Best Commercial Aluminium Window

Commercial window selection often goes far beyond appearance. Whilst aesthetics remain important, architects, developers and specifiers must also consider factors such as wind loading, security requirements, acoustic performance, fire safety, Building Regulations compliance, ongoing maintenance requirements and whole-life costs. Technical support and specification assistance can also play a significant role, particularly on larger or more complex projects where performance and compliance are just as important as the way the windows look.

OUR CHOICE

Senior Architectural Windows

Whilst homeowners often focus on styling, sightlines and aesthetics, commercial projects place greater emphasis on durability, testing, specification flexibility, security, compliance and long-term performance. Schools, offices, healthcare buildings, apartment developments, public buildings and retail projects all place different demands on a window system.

The best commercial windows are often those that architects, contractors and specifiers can rely on repeatedly across multiple project types.

Senior has built its reputation through commercial and light commercial projects across the UK. Schools, offices, healthcare facilities, public buildings, apartment schemes and commercial developments all regularly use Senior products.

One of the company’s biggest strengths is the breadth of its product range, it’s reliable performance figures and long-established reputation. Whether the project requires standard commercial casement windows, curtain walling, commercial entrance doors, fire-rated glazing or complex façade solutions, Senior offers products specifically designed for the application. Architects and contractors also value the company’s technical support and specification assistance.

Schüco Commercial Systems

Schüco remains one of the most respected names in commercial aluminium systems worldwide. Its products appear on some of the most prestigious buildings across Europe and beyond. The engineering, testing and technical support are exceptional. For larger commercial projects with substantial budgets, Schüco often remains one of the benchmark specifications.

The range available is substantial from windows that are security tested in a partially open position to windows with built-in shading and ventilation, fire and blast proof systems and specialist applications.

Reynaers Commercial Solutions

Reynaers also offers an impressive range of commercial window and façade systems. The company’s products combine excellent aesthetics with strong technical performance and are frequently specified on high-end commercial developments. As with Schüco, Reynaers excels when projects demand premium design and engineering.

Smart Systems Commercial Products

Smart Systems deserves recognition for its extensive use throughout the UK commercial sector. Its windows, residential doors, commercial doors, curtain walling and other systems all appear in residential developments, schools, offices, and retail and other public buildings nationwide.

The combination of availability, support and familiarity makes Smart a dependable choice for many contractors and developers.

Which Aluminium Window Would We Choose?

If we wanted the best all-round aluminium window for most homeowners, we would choose the Cortizo Casement.

For contemporary styling, premium engineering and maximum design flexibility, we would choose Reynaers.

For steel-look styling, we would choose Aluco Elite.

If value for money was the primary consideration, we would choose the Exlabesa KS51.

For the reassurance of a widely recognised UK brand and extensive dealer network, we would choose Origin.

For aluminium sliding sash windows, we would choose the Duration VS Plus.

For commercial and light commercial projects, we would choose Senior Architectural Systems.

There is no single best window for every project.

Unlike doors, where engineering, hardware and system design can vary significantly, modern aluminium windows are often far more similar than many homeowners realise. Most reputable systems companies use the same grade of aluminium, recognised powder coating standards and high quality hardware. The differences tend to be found in the design, styling, sightlines, engineering details and the company manufacturing and installing the product.

That is why we often advise homeowners not to become overly focused on finding the absolute best window. In many cases, your budget is better spent on choosing the best doors you can afford, even if they come from a different supplier. Sliding doors, bifold doors and entrance doors place far greater demands on their hardware, engineering and construction. They are larger, heavier, used more frequently and often play a much bigger role in how a property looks and functions.

The quality of the installation is equally important. A well-made and properly fitted window from a mainstream brand will almost always outperform a premium product that has been manufactured or installed poorly.

If you are comparing aluminium windows and would like an impartial opinion, get in touch. We can usually explain where a particular product sits in the market, who manufactures it, how it compares with competing systems and whether there are alternatives worth considering.

Our advice is free, impartial and independent.

Are aluminium windows a good idea?

Today’s aluminium windows are slimmer, incredibly thermally efficient, and available in more styles and designs such as contemporary, classic, hidden framed, steel look and many more options.

How much do aluminium windows cost?

The price of aluminium windows varies on design, size, colour and even where you buy it from. Get in touch for prices and where to buy. Here’s some general information on typical window prices.

Who makes the best aluminium windows?

There is no single best aluminium window for every project. For most homeowners, we currently recommend Cortizo Casement. For contemporary design, Reynaers is our choice. For steel-look windows, we recommend Aluco Elite. For value, Exlabesa KC51 stands out. The best option depends on your property, budget and the style you want.

What is the Aluco Elite window?

In 2026, the Aluco Elite is the best designed aluminium steel-look window on the market. No other aluminium system gets and close to steel as Elite and its beautifully styled, well-made and luxurious. In our view it’s the best steel-look, industrial and Art-Deco window with an equally impressive set of matching doors, external and internal.

What is the best sash window?

If you’re looking for authentic sash windows to replicate timber windows, then uPVC windows are your best choice. Aluminium hasn’t managed to style the windows as well, but Duration Windows offers VS Plus and Smart Systems the VS600. Check our our article comparing PVCu sash windows for more expert help and advice.

What is the best flush casement window?

In aluminium, the best flush casement goes to the Alitherm 400. On price, specifications and appearance it’s hard to beat.

What is the best value aluminium window?

For value, we currently recommend Exlabesa KC51. It offers attractive styling, good thermal performance, PAS 24 security testing and competitive pricing. Smart Systems Alitherm 400, Senior Architectural Systems and Alunet Aluna+ are also worth considering for homeowners looking for good aluminium windows without premium-brand pricing.

Are aluminium windows better than uPVC windows?

Aluminium windows usually offer slimmer frames, greater strength, more contemporary styling and better suitability for bigger, wider and taller windows with larger panes of glass. PVCu windows are usually cheaper and can be better for certain traditional styles, especially sliding sash windows. The better choice depends on the property, budget and style required.

Should my aluminium windows and doors be the same brand and supplier?

Not always. It can help when you want matching sightlines, colours and system details, but it is not essential. In many projects, it makes sense to spend more of the budget on the doors and choose a good, reliable aluminium window from a different supplier. The best doors come from companies specialising in these than they do windows.
